John Crowe Named Philadelphia SmartCEO's 2016 CEO of the Year

Saint-Gobain & CertainTeed President and CEO recognized for commitment to Greater Philadelphia region, sustainability and employee well-being
Malvern, Pa. – Nov. 10, 2016 Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials companies, today announced that John Crowe, president and CEO of Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Corporations, has been named CEO of the Year by Philadelphia SmartCEO magazine. The award recognizes the most accomplished CEOs in the Greater Philadelphia region that are committed to business excellence.

An independent committee of local business leaders chose John for this award for his impact on the building materials industry, overall market leadership and commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“I am honored to receive this remarkable recognition and am deeply grateful to have been selected from such a competitive pool of venerable business leaders,” said Crowe. “As CEO, my biggest responsibility is building Saint-Gobain’s 15th generation of employees, and it is amazing to see how they continue to push boundaries and rise to the challenges of the modern built environment. In 2016 that is exactly what our employees did. They proved themselves as noble corporate citizens and green building champions and created next generation materials that have improved our city, and I’m honored to accept this award on their behalf.”

John was recognized for his leadership over a variety of recent Saint-Gobain initiatives, including the opening of the new LEED Platinum-certified Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed North American Headquarters in Malvern, Pa.; the completed, sustainable renovation of two side-by-side homes in the Nicetown section of Philadelphia, Pa., through Saint-Gobain’s partnership with YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School; as well as Saint-Gobain’s presenting sponsorship of the renovation of LOVE Park’s Welcome Center.

John was recognized for this prestigious achievement at an awards ceremony last night at Vie in Philadelphia.
