JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team within the Traveler's Rest manufacturing facility. In a fast paced, service-oriented manufacturing environment, will set up and operate machine tools, primarily Hyndai, Fetta, CNC manual lathes and QA equipment, primarily surface finish, optical and Zoeller comparators to verify product profile accuracy according  to print specifications.  Use precision measuring instruments to verify conformity to print specifications.
 
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITY:  
· Read and interpret work order instructions and blueprint specifications.
· Set up and operate specified machines, making machine adjustments where necessary to produce required results.
· Inspect parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
· Ensure tools and machines are maintained in clean and proper condition.
· Maintain a clean and orderly work area.   
· Follow all safety procedures, including wearing required PPE.
· Follow company policies as outlined in Employee Handbook, Health & Safety Manual and Emergency Response Plan
· Adhere to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures 
· Other assigned duties and cross training as determined by business conditions and supervision

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess the following requirements:
· Technical school/apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in a machine shop environment.  
· Must possess skill and knowledge in set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop equipment. 
· Current or previous grinding experience. 
· Ability to utilize shop math and precision measuring instruments.  
· Ability to use initiative and judgment in reading and interpreting prints and written specifications for machine and comparator set-up to achieve desired results.   
· Must be able to work in a team environment.

The Saint-Gobain Superabrasives-North America manufacturing facility in Travelers Rest, South Carolina is the manufacturing site for diamond dressing rolls, direct plated and dressing tool products serving high volume operations in the automotive, aerospace, bearing and machine manufacturer industry. The products manufactured are used to shape materials too hard or too fragile for conventional abrasives. They are made by using electroplating, brazing and hand-setting processes and used for producing parts in a large number of machine tooling applications, primarily in the aerospace and automobile industries.

The Quality & Process Control Manager leads the plant's Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs, executing robust quality systems, data driven process controls, and continuous improvement practices to ensure defect reduction, process stability, customer satisfaction, and sustained operational performance.

The Quality & Process Control Manager leads the integration of quality and process control systems at the Jackson vinyl siding. This role is accountable for building a high-performing team, deploying CertainTeed's Quality Management System (QMS), and ensuring stable, capable processes that consistently deliver high-quality, sustainable building products.

A critical component of this role is establishing robust process risk management and control strategies, including ownership of PFMEA, Control Plans, and NPD quality integration in managing variability from recycled composite materials.  Developing and advancing Quality & Process Control roadmap.

Essential Functions:

Lead Integrated Quality & Process Control Organization

  • Build and lead a cross-functional, process-driven team with clear ownership and accountability
  • Establish standard work and daily management systems (KPIs, tier meetings, escalation)
  • Foster a culture of process discipline, prevention, and collaboration across production, maintenance, and quality

 Own Process Control Strategy (PFMEA & Control Plans)

  • Develop, implement, and sustain PFMEA and Control Plans
  • Translate risks into actionable controls, alarms, and response plans
  • Ensure controls are actively used and continuously updated based on process changes and performance trends

Drive Process Stability & Manufacturing Performance

  • Own process control systems (SPC, automation, parameter control)

Maintain & Improve Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Ensure QMS effectively supports process control across all stages (raw materials to final product)

The Role

This position will help bolster plant operations relative to engineering needs. The incumbent will receive instructions on task specifications and design constraints, as well as technical direction during assignments. Production Supervisor – 3rd Shift

11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with some weekend work required.

Position Summary

Supervises the daily activities of production personnel and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the production team. Supervisor is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures and is a key driver of Saint-Gobain's Trust, Empowerment and Collaboration initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises the hourly production employees on the safe and efficient operation of the production line equipment and processes.
  • Exercises good judgment in the utilization of manpower, work in progress and operational adjustments.
  • Communicates & documents employee expectations and assess employee performance. Provides coaching and development opportunities, and administer disciplinary action if needed.
  • Directly monitors the production processes and production quality to ensure compliance to established company standards.
  • Oversees the training of production employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Leads the shift safety meetings and training sessions that have been developed by the training department.
  • May be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees.
  • Assists in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to production.
  • Work closely with the Production Planner to ensure compliance to the production schedule and production changes.
  • Enters production, efficiency and waste data into SAP.
  • Investigate EH&S incidents - Injuries, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Conduct EHS and SMAT Audits to support the plants EHS goals.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position job safety assessments and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains work place organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
  • Reviews and approves employee timekeeping (Kronos) and ensures employees are paid the correct wages in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
