Today marks an important milestone for Saint-Gobain Canada’s CertainTeed Kootenay West Gypsum Mine, as the site completed the final phase of construction and enters full production capacity with the installation and commissioning of permanent equipment on site. The Kootenay West Gypsum Mine located near Canal Flats, BC near the border of Alberta, is a strategic expansion investment by Saint-Gobain to ensure a quality supply chain of raw material for its Western Canadian operations.
Acquisition through CertainTeed Siding follows successful joint venture; represents CertainTeed’s expansion into fast growing hardboard cladding market
Saint-Gobain, through its building materials division CertainTeed Siding, today announced its acquisition of RISE Building Products (RISE), an innovative manufacturer of composite cladding in the United States. RISE’s patented technology enhances the production of siding products made from recycled materials. This acquisition follows a successful joint venture between CertainTeed and RISE, which began in early 2024.
Winnipeg, MB – Tuesday, August 26, 2025 – Over the past year, CertainTeed Gypsum Winnipeg has spearheaded an innovative sustainability project to conserve water and energy use during gypsum wallboard production. This unique project resulted in reducing water consumption by 3%, decreasing CO2 emissions (scopes 1 and 2) by 5,000 tons per year for the site and decreasing energy consumption by nearly 25 million kWh per year.
