WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
The Machining Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in machining processes and techniques. Under the guidance of experienced machinists, the apprentice will learn to operate machinery, perform precision machining tasks, and develop the skills necessary for a successful career in the machining field. The individual will promote a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.
Essential Functions:
Machine Operation and Setup - Operating tool room equipment (saws, mills, lathes, CNC and MasterCam).
Quality Control and Inspection - Use precision measuring instruments, checking of tolerances and performing essential bench work, such as deburring and polishing to complete components.
Blueprint Reading and Technical Planning - Interpreting blueprints and schematics. Planning of machine sequence of machining operations and planning the most efficient way to complete a job.
Production and Engineering Support - Support repair of equipment and fabrication of replacement parts for production equipment.
Shop Maintenance - Performing daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance on equipment.
Safety - Strict adherence to all Saint-Gobain safety requirements. Adherence to shop safety protocols including all PPE and maintaining a safe work environment.

Education:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Must be currently enrolled in a certified machining apprenticeship program.
