This position will design vision for this new Line of Business and collaborate with R&D, Warranty and Contractor Engagement group to establish product portfolio via VOC with a System and Resilience perspective. Ensure achievement of strategic, business and financial objectives for the Metal and Interfaces Building Products. Function as a general manager guiding product management, defining pricing strategy and driving sales and marketing of CertainTeed and Private Label brand portfolio products in the segments of responsibility. Determine end user and distribution customer needs and develop new, innovative products and services, targeting `Industry Firsts.' Similarly, through `Voice of the Customer' activities and competitive benchmarking, partner with NPD and Operations to develop product line extensions and next generation products. Develop volume and share goals by product line by region and track ongoing performance. Provide directions to sales, manufacturing, NPD, customer service, finance and marketing to execute plans and programs. Drive product development projects in support of new business development activities across all channels and leverage existing industrial assets in our North America organization. Accountable for managing overall product profitability for both existing and new product lines, as well as defining and tracking sales results for new product launches. Operates under minimal supervision, with wide latitude for independent judgment and entrepreneurial decision making. Act as entrepreneur to articulate long term vision coupled to best short-term profitability and risk path.
Essential Functions:
1. Full product management responsibility for Metal and Interfaces product lines
2. Leads product planning and definition to ensure the product delivers value to target customers, achieves portfolio objectives, brand positioning and channel segmentation/differentiation goals. Directs cross functional product management teams to own and manage the product throughout all stages of life cycle (conception, definition, development, launch and post-launch activities, maturity and transition).
3. Collaborates with Marketing managers to develop strategies and tactics for successful marketing of products, including new product launches and repositioning of current products
4. Directs Product Marketing resources in the design/content of training materials (for customers and CertainTeed sales people) to support the product line.
Conducts frequent customer visits to evaluate market needs and opportunities; participates in customer and TM councils and other `Voice of the Customer' activities.
Support investigation of field failures and other customer complaints.
This position will have tactical and strategic responsibility for growing sales and profitability of the Metal and Interfaces lines of business through effective product line management, as well as proactive and timely delivery of new product development objectives
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business or similar Required; MBA preferred
7 plus years of relevant experience in product management, marketing, or related function-Required
5 plus years of relevant experience in in building materials, consumer durables, or related industry - Preferred
Demonstrated success in managing P&L and Cash Flow, with proven capabilities in planning, organizing, integrating and measuring programs and projects: Required
Strong problem solving, analytical and computer skills (Windows Word, Excel and PowerPoint): Required
Ability to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive and an innovator.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Flexible, able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
