What’s the job?

Consistent with the corporate objectives and a reliability mindset, the Maintenance and Engineering Manager is directly reporting to the Plant Manager. He will be accountable and responsible for departmental safety, environmental controls, development of the maintenance and engineering Department.

Participation with other departments to develop and/or analyze strategies to achieve Plant and Corporate objectives including, but not limited to safety, productivity, costs, quality, and the capital investment program for the site.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training, ensure consistent management of subordinate personnel, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc. Manages salaried and hourly employees.

Continuous Improvement:

To be the champion of all PM and reliability systems by utilizing the Professional Maintenance World Class Manufacturing techniques in driving equipment reliabilities to the highest possible levels.

Systems Development:

Oversight of the maintenance systems and developing maintenance strategies. Oversee and maintain the SAP maintenance module.

Change Agent:

Provides leadership to the cultural and technical growth of his/her direct reports. Motivates, coaches, and develops a diverse, high performing and engaged team to meet established goals and build organizational capability and mindset to function within a Reliability Centered organization.

Technical problem solving:

Achieves technical problem solving using Root Cause Analysis tools to eliminate and sustain equipment reliability and capability.

People Development:

With input from the Plant Manager regularly evaluates skillsets, provide formalized feedback on performance, source and provide training opportunities for all direct reports.

Customers and contacts:

Collaborates with all plant and corporate functions in the coordination and scheduling of plant repairs, equipment modifications or installations; purchasing and accounting personnel on requisitions and capital request data; and corporate engineering on special projects.

 

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or other related fields of study and/or demonstrated and related equivalent experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • 5-8 years manufacturing maintenance experience leading people
  • Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities
  • Proven history or directing and coordinating business direction
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate all levels of personnel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound understanding of business and engineering concepts as related to manufacturing
  • Sound understanding of analytical and financial issues, costs, and budgets
  • Creating and communicating long term, strategic goals
  • Highly motivated and self-directed

Certain provinces require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is 98 700$ to $125 900$ per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is 111 531$ to 142 267$
