Department of Energy Honors Saint-Gobain

At a special awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. last week, Saint-Gobain was one of 89 businesses and organizations honored as winners of the 2009 ENERGY STAR Award. The annual award is given by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to recognize companies for their outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Saint-Gobain was a winner in the Industrial Partner of the Year category. The company is the first manufacturer of insulation and glass containers to have received the Partner of the Year award.

Accepting the award on behalf of Saint-Gobain was Shawn Puccio, Senior Vice President of Finance. At a meeting for the Award's industrial winners held in conjunction with the ceremony, Puccio outlined the company's energy strategy for the future. Also attending the ceremony were: Saint-Gobain North America – Lauren Alterman, Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment, John Marrone, Vice President of Purchasing, Brad Runda, Energy Manager for Saint-Gobain North America and Jim Smith, Manager of Environment for Saint-Gobain North America; CertainTeed – Chris Altmansberger, Vice President of Operational Excellence; Saint-Gobain Containers – Phil McPherson, Senior Vice President of Technology.
