Saint-Gobain Solar Wins Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Award for the Northeast Region

Seventh Annual Awards Luncheon to honor companies growing in the Commonwealth

Saint-Gobain Solar, a leading manufacturer of sustainable materials and engineered renewable energy solutions, was named a gold winner in MassEcon's (The Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development) Seventh Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards. Selected based on factors including job growth, facility expansion, investment, and community involvement, these awards recognize the outstanding contributions that companies from across the state have made to the Massachusetts economy. A luncheon to honor to winners will be held on November 23. Wyc Grousbeck, Managing Partner and CEO of the Boston Celtics, will be featured speaker.

Saint-Gobain Solar, a leading manufacturer of sustainable materials and engineered renewable energy solutions, recently introduced its innovative LightSwitch™ portfolio of fluoropolymer film technologies to the photovoltaic (PV) market, including LightSwitch Frontsheet, LightSwitch Encapsulant, and LightSwitch Frontsheet Complete, as well as a design program for photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers. A high-performance and durable alternative to conventional materials, LightSwitch technologies provide PV module manufacturers with enhanced performance, durability, and a reduction in total systems cost.

"As renewable energy becomes a global priority, Saint-Gobain has made a sizeable investment in its photovoltaic business, including the expansion of its Worcester facility, procuring the latest in high-tech equipment, and acquiring key industry expertise," said Julia DiCorleto, Business Manager, Photovoltaics & Extruded Films, Saint-Gobain Solar. "This allows us to meet the increased demand for environmentally sustainable energy, while also benefitting the community in which we live and work.

"The winners of the Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards all have outstanding stories, from adding jobs, to office expansion, to the positive ways in which they impact their communities," said Susan Houston, Executive Director of MassEcon. "We are proud that these companies call the Commonwealth home."
